Alcohol Screening and Drug Testing Process

In-office alcohol screening and drug testing are now available from Bridge Builders Counseling in Wilmington, NC. These services are in conjunction with our substance abuse counseling, DWI Assessments & Treatment Groups.

Alcohol Screening Process

For alcohol screening we use a two step process; first we administer a saliva test to detect the presence of alcohol. Immediately after the strip we administer a breathalyzer test. The results of the breathalyzer are recorded by computer program immediately and are admissible in legal proceedings. This is the process we use to satisfy the North Carolina DWI drug screen requirement. The fee for alcohol screening is $25.00.

During a DWI Assessment through Bridge Builders Counseling, the first screening is provided by Bridge Builders, free of charge.

Drug Testing Process

For substances other than alcohol, we provide a convenient and reliable 5-panel urinalysis drug test ($45.00). The initial results are available within 2.5 minutes. If requested and the additional $35.00 confirmation fee is paid, confirmed laboratory results will be available within 72 hours.

You can contact Bridge Builders Counseling to schedule an appointment at 910-792-9888. Walk-ins are also welcome weekdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The person providing the sample must have valid identification for any confirmed results.

Other details of our drug testing process:

• In-office unconfirmed results in 2.5 minutes with in-office unconfirmed statement of the findings.
• Positive or Negative results that need to be confirmed (for court, probation, parole, etc.) are sent to Western Slope Laboratory for test confirmation.
• Confirmation fees are an additional $35 for test to be sent to lab (Total fee $80 -- $45 for the test and $35 for shipping and lab support and findings).
• Confirmed results for in-office tests that are Negative within 24 hours
• Confirmed results for in-office tests that are Positive within 72 hours
• Confirmed results can be accessed through Bridge Builders for up to 7 years
• Tests not sent for confirmation are disposed of that day and results will not be available later.
