Supervised Visitation

Supervised visitation may be mandated by a court in child custody cases where a non-custodial parent requests visitation rights. The reasons for court mandated Supervised Visitation can include a history of domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health concerns, high conflict custody cases, concerns about abduction, little or no relationship between the child and parent, or conflicts where a parent may be denied access to the child.

Supervised visitation puts the child's safety, stability, and emotional well-being at the forefront of the situation. It allows the child to interact with the non-custodial parent outside of the conflict that exists between the two parents. It is a safe and comfortable environment designed to relieve stress, worry, and anxiety for both parents and the child.

We often serve in different roles, depending on the needs of the client or by the court order. At times we simply observe, observe and document, observe and coach or interact with parent and child during the visitation, observe child exchanges, document child exchanges, and offer suggestions for reducing the conflict and tension during exchanges.
